Future Insults

Loopspeak

(n.)

The secondhand dialect of people who let machines do their thinking, where every sentence uttered sounds like a bot.

She dismissed her boyfriend’s apology as total loopspeak: he validated her feelings, offered three actionable next steps, and asked if there was anything else he could help with.

Does it ring true?

From the future, or already here?

Coinage notes

The -speak is from Orwell’s Newspeak, the language of 1984 pared down until forbidden thoughts became unthinkable. The loop references a machine’s feedback loop, now applied to the human who is so far indoctrinated with AI-generated language they can’t extract themselves and speak like a human anymore.
