A perfect homophone of paydays: when every day might be one, none feels like one. Daze describes that state of financial uncertainty. Pay’s root comes from the Latin pacare, to make peace, which originally made each unpaid debt a small war and the regular wage a truce. For the freelancer and gig worker, that truce gets renegotiated with every job.
